Foresight Friday: Break Free of Your Inner Big Bad
Divination Method: Buffy The Vampire Slayer Tarot
Card Drawn: Death, Reversed
Key Words: Resistance to Change, Stagnation, Repeating Negative Patterns
My Foresight Friday Interpretation:
It's been a bit of a roller coaster week here in Pixieland, but things are starting to level off (uh-oh...famous last words? 😬👀). Anyway, I'm having a tough time focusing this brain of mine today so, I should probably just get to the reading before I lose all control over it. lol
I'm still using the Buffy the Vampire Slayer tarot, and y'know what? I think this deck just gets me... or I get it... we get each other?? Eh, whatevs, the semantics of it don't really matter.
After a bit of a shuffle with my Hecate beads in hand and the scent of incense wafting through the air, the card that presented itself to us today is Death in the reversed position.
Depicted on the Death card are The Gentlemen. Those oogie-woogie, eerily silent, and freakishly polite thieves of voices and hearts that creep everyone out in Season 4. Their appearance signals a change is a-comin'!
Upright, it would mean that something unavoidable was about to occur, so we might as well buckle up and let it happen. Being that this is in the reversed position, it signals things - likely internal or behavioral - that we need to address in order to make a necessary change.
We don't always resist change on purpose. Sometimes, we continue with unhealthy (or unhelpful) behaviors merely because they're comfortable. We get stuck because even though things aren't going the way we'd like, we fear leaving the familiar behind...even if unfamiliar will be better.
Y'know what Death reversed has to say about those fears? Tough noogies! It's time to get past them.
In the Buffy episode that The Gentlemen appear, the Slayer and the gang were forced to find alternate ways to communicate their needs and desires once the population of Sunnydale had their ability to speak stolen.
They could no longer lean on the easy way of conveying their thoughts and feelings. It was difficult, and frustrating, disheartening, and even a bit scary. Much of the citizenry fell into despair and spent their time moping around in silence.
Our feisty band of hormone-riddled heroes, however, started to look for new ways to communicate, and were able to move beyond old behaviors in order to discover truths about themselves. In doing this, they were able to break free of the Big Bad that was their old patterns, and they stepped boldly into new and meaningful adventures. (Oh, and they defeated the floating creepers.)
It's time for us to do the same. We have to discover what is holding us back and find a way to put it behind us.
Whether it's a bad habit, toxic behaviors, or even a fear of trying something we've always longed to do... we need to just get to it. If we take the time and courage to slay the Big Bad that is our fear and stagnation, the days in our own private Sunnydale will start to look a whole lot sunnier.
Until Next Time, Pixilators!
Wishing You Peace, Love, & Pixie Dust
