Foresight Friday: Free Your Inner Feline
Divination Method: The Illustrated Herbiary
Card Drawn: Valerian
Key Words: Release Rigidity
My Foresight Friday Interpretation:
Howdy friends! I hope that whatever you had to be prepared for last week wasn’t too difficult to deal with. If it was a bit taxing, no worries, because more rest is on the way.
This week I’m consulting The Illustrated Herbiary by Maia Toll. I do love me some advice from the plant world!
The card that has decided to share its wisdom with us this week is Valerian. The vibrant imagery of this card shows Valerian standing tall and strong among the clouds in a bright, blue sky. If we follow the line of its stalk downward, we’ll see it eventually morphs into the tail of a happily snoozing tabby cat.
The appearance of a cat may seem odd, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Why? Because Valerian is known to promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and improve or induce sleep. Which pretty much sums up cats as a species. Think about it; Cats are usually pretty chill, they sleep A LOT, and they generally don’t give a fuck what anybody thinks about – well...anything.
So, our task this week is to take a page out of the Cat’s book. It’s time to relax whenever we feel the urge, and to feel absolutely unapologetic about it.
No beating ourselves up for refusing to eat the bullshit sandwiches that life sometimes likes to serve us. We are absolutely allowed to rest for the sake of resting, as well as to do things on a whim.
Trust in the message that Valerian has brought to us, as well as the suggestions that it brings us for Ritual (something to do) and Reflection (something to think about).
We’ve pretty much covered the Ritual, which is simply to rest. More specifically, we’re asked to try our hand at the occasional Cat Nap of 15 – 20 minutes.
For our Reflection, we are tasked to explore shame. While the feeling has its place when we’re learning to calibrate our moral compass, many of us have crossed the line into rigid ways of thinking that often lead to those moments of self-deprecation and self-ridicule that we are far too quick to believe.
Taking a little time to explore why we tend to do that to ourselves (without further judgement), as well as focusing on how we can be kinder to ourselves can only help our state of mind and overall well-being.
So go forth and embrace your inner cool cat. Follow your whims, rest when you like. Do it all shamelessly and with absolutely zero fucks.
Until Next Time, Pixilators!
